Family Medicine Interests

I’m the Associate Program Director – which means I keep things stable when Dr. Beckstead’s not around and take care of things he doesn’t have time for.  Clinically, I assist women in birthing babies and take care of them in the nursery.  I do a number of procedures and enjoy teaching skin procedures.  I like helping people quit smoking and specialize in “non-compliant” patients.  I am the “computer guy” at the office, though I appreciate that Dr. Blank is very capable of taking over the title.

Hobbies

My wife and I have three grown children in various parts of the country.  We like watching movies together in our basement and playing board games (Catan, Lost Cities, Ticket to Ride…)  I enjoy reading (C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Ravi Zacharias).

Why do you enjoy working at AFP?

I joined AFP in 1999 after teaching in Midland, Michigan, for eight years.  I was attracted by the friendly atmosphere and flexibility of allowing me to pursue my interests.  I continue to appreciate my great partners who are always willing to cover for me and the residents who do a great job of taking care of my patients when I am not around.
