I chose AFP because it is rare to find such a large hospital with an academic center affiliation nestled away in a relatively rural area like Altoona. Furthermore, when I did my residency interview, here it was clear that the opportunity to tailor my learning experience to my interests within family medicine was not only available but encouraged. It is an added benefit that the facility and residents are world-class.
