Altoona Family
Physicians Residency
of Altoona Regional Health System

Altoona Family Physicians Residency
has been
a dynamic, thriving program
in
central Pennsylvania for over 37 years. Our goal is to develop competent, caring
family physicians equipped to serve patients in rural, suburban, or urban practice.

Highlights
We are the only residency program in the hospital. All the learning experiences
of a 350 bed hospital are available to our residents without competition.
6-6-6 residency. 10 full-time, 1 part-time faculty.
Our residents have the option to spend several months
to two years experiencing life as a rural physician at our
Williamsburg Office. They graduate confident that, if they choose, they can practice and thrive in a
rural area.
Altoona
Regional Health System
maintains up-to-date facilities and staffing
while maintaining the atmosphere of a community hospital. The bustle of open heart surgery and the
trauma center do not overshadow the intimacy of the maternity center and the inpatient palliative care
unit.
Doctors of allopathic medicine (MDs) and osteopathic medicine
(DOs) work side by side in a dually
accredited, collaborative program. Traditional
rotating internship offered.
Our inpatient family medicine experience
offers broad-based and personalized training as part of a close-knit team.
A night-float system for all three years removes fatigue as a barrier to
learning.
Strong in rural medicine, inpatient family
medicine, obstetrical training and women's health. Our residents learn by
doing, not watching.
Level 3, NCQA certified Patient-centered
Medical Home with integrated, easy-to-use EMR.
International/global health electives are
encouraged - Away electives are also supported
Excellent salary and benefits. Meal

We have an excellent, diverse faculty, dynamic leadership and a spirit of
progress.
