Vernon F. Bradley, MD
OB/GYN Preceptor

"Be sure you know
what
you don't know"
Retired due to high malpractice cost.
Biography
Raised in New Kensington School District where I was taught to write just like a
Doctor. How else could I pass all those exams and graduate? I met my wife when
a senior in college and she was a first year nursing student at St. Francis Hospital in
Pittsburgh. I said she would be my last blind date - I was her first and last.
Forty three years of marriage and four kids later proved us both right. I
came to Altoona because my wife is from neighboring Tyrone, PA and my college room mate is
from Altoona and I love mountain greenery.
After 36 years of practice and teaching I am now retired. I teach and precept at
Altoona Family Physicians merely to avoid spending 36 hours a day at home and causing my
early demise at the hands of my wife.
Our four children consist of James, the eldest who has a BS in Biology and a BSN in
critical care nursing. Our second son (and only planned offspring), Tim, is a
plastic and reconstruction and hand surgeon who has given us two darling
granddaughters.
Our third son (Pat) has a degree in hotel management from Penn State and our
daughter Beth (who was supposed to be our third son's placenta) is living in California.
We obviously travel a lot to see all our family - Pittsburgh to St. Louis to
California.
