It’s been a long journey!  I am so thankful to my family and friends for their constant support and encouragement through these last years of education and training.  To my parents – Thank you for instilling great values and teaching me that hard work pays off.  I truly appreciate your sacrifice!  To Todd & Tam – Thanks for standing by me and being here for all of the important events.  I love you guys.  Dale – You know I could never have gotten here without you!  Thank you for your love and support through all the good and bad times.  Thank you for allowing us to have a family and for keeping them close by, even through the call!  Jacob and Josh – I love you!  Thank you for all the smiles that made the days Okay!  To my classmates, I’m so grateful to have experienced this with you all.  Best wishes in your new endeavors!

To the new interns – enjoy your time – you’re more ready than you realize!  To the new 2nd and 3rd years, the light at the end of the path continues to brighten and will be here so quickly.  Good Luck!

As I close this door at AFP, a new door opens for me at Southern Cove Medical Associates in Hollidaysburg – new patients welcome!

Biography

I was born in Somerset county, PA and raised on a 300 acre dairy farm. Responsibility was learned early as there were always many chores to do on the farm. It was a great way to grow up. During school I was involved with 4-H which included me showing our Holstein dairy cattle at county fairs. Also, I enjoyed volleyball, basketball, and softball during high school. These sports taught me a lot about team work and hard work. Sports also taught me how great winning is but how losing can motivate you to keep working.

After high school I attended Juniata College and received a B.S. in PreMed/Biology. College was a great time and I met a lot of friends. From college I traveled to Philly where I attended PCOM in a Master's program for two years. While in Philly I worked in a bagel shop. I was a manager there and met a lot of interesting people. Throughout college and Philly I depended on the encouragement and support of my very best friend - Dale. By the time I was in Philly, we were engaged and having a long-distance romance, but he was incredibly supportive and helped me get through.

After Philly I trudged to arctic Erie for medical school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dale and I got married the fall of my first year. We had a great four years in Erie - many stressful hours of study but also many hours at the lake. By the second year of medical school our son, Jacob, was born. He was an incredible gift and a great joy in our lives.

My third and fourth years I bounced from rotation to rotation learning a lot but very anxious every day to go home to Jacob. One rotation brought me to Altoona with then Allegheny Family Physicians. I so loved the residents and staff and was excited about the possibility of interviewing here. My husband and I agreed Altoona would be a great move. It would also bring us closer to home and family and this would be wonderful for Jacob too. When the match arrived we were very excited. Dale was very lucky and was offered a job here in his profession which is animal nutrition. He works for a company out of Syracuse, New York - Shur Gam USA.

We bought a house in Hollidaysburg and we're working to fix it like we want it. AFP is great and everyone is wonderful to work with. I'm very pleased with my choice to be in Altoona and hope to stay around the area when residency is finished.
