Submitting an analogy for the list

Someday we will have a submission form for you to fill out. Until then, send an e-mail or letter. Include:

The analogy, explained briefly and simply, as you would explain it to a patient.
Any comments you want to make about the analogy.
Where did you hear the analogy?
If you would like to be acknowledged for submitting the analogy, include your name and whatever contact information you feel comfortable on the internet.

Unless you say otherwise, sending an analogy and/or contact information to me is your consent to have it released on our website.

My suspicion is that analogies are like good jokes. They float around and soon it's hard to know who invented them. I take no responsibility for the accuracy of attributions. Unless there is a specific reference, these analogies are not copyrighted. Please share and use them.
