Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum

At one time, Altoona was the greatest railroad town in the world, with the largest railroad shops in the world.  At the peak of the railroad era, nearly 20,000 people were employed in the railroad shops.

The Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum endeavors to tell the story of the Altoona shops, the Pennsylvania Railroad and the history of Altoona.  The state-of-the-art museum includes an introductory film, touch-screen videos, oral histories and interactive exhibits.  The museum is a great way to learn more about the PRR and the history of Altoona.  There is an admission charge.
