As a teenager, I was contemplating on what I should do with my life.
When I read Jesus' parable of Good Samaritan in the Gospel of Luke,
I decided to spend my life in the service of people who are in need.
Soon I realized that one area where I am needed most is health care.
I am blessed with parents who encouraged me to study medicine and I
enrolled in medical school in 1994. Now, it is 2009, so I spent a
number of years learning medical skills and still learning new
things on a daily basis.
Another blessing I got in my medical education, is to join
Altoona Family Physicians to do my residency in Family Medicine.
Every attending physician in this residency enriched my life with
their personality, congeniality, wisdom, and teaching. I am
indebted to them for taking extra time to teach me valuable skills I
needed in taking care of the patients. I have been enjoying good,
professional work experience with other residents in the program,
who enthrall me on a daily basis with their varied personalities. AFP
Residency, I feel wholeheartedly, has trained me in every area of
expertise one is required to be trained in to become a family
physician.
Born in India, and now living in the United States, I had
the privilege of seeing the best of both hemispheres. Upon my
graduation, I am looking forward to spend my life practicing
family medicine and engaging in the service of the local community.
For medical students aspiring to start their residency, I
wholeheartedly recommend Altoona Family Physicians. In every thing I
observed at AFP, I only found the staff to be very professional,
respectful, accommodative, helpful and compassionate.
