Goodbye Message
It is with a mixture of sorrow and great excitement that I
announce my resignation from Altoona Family Physicians. I have made many friends
here in Altoona and in Williamsburg where I see patients and I will miss all of
them. Lately, though, I have felt the pull to return to my home state of
Texas. My parents, my siblings, and all my nieces and nephews call the Lone Star
state home and I long to rejoin them.
I will be joining a small practice in Clifton, Texas, a town
of 4000 people in central Texas. There I will find out if I can do rural
medicine as well as I teach it. I will continue to deliver babies with the added
skill of performing C-sections. In all, it will be a time of great personal
growth.
I will return periodically to check on my friends here and
perhaps to give a lecture or two about what it's like in the "real"
world.
Pre-move Biography
I was born in Dallas, Texas and thus cursed for being a Cowboy fan. I have
managed to live on both coasts, Texas and Oklahoma before settling in
Pennsylvania. Like the proverbial rolling stone, I had planned on moving from
Pennsylvania to Somewhere Else, USA when I met my wife Cindy. While she is not
mossy, she has deep roots here in Blair County having been born and raised in
Williamsburg. She lived there with her two children until six years ago when we
married. I moved her 15 miles south to Duncansville and there we have been ever
since. We each have two children ranging in age from 12 (going on 21) to 20. We
have two cats who allow us to cater to their every whim. I am no longer a
rolling stone but we both really enjoy traveling.
So after 4 years of private practice in a
small town in Texas, we decided to return home. Texas was paradise, OK it was
hot, muggy, populated by rattlesnakes, scorpions, fire ants, and our pet outdoor
tarantula, Fang, but we loved it.
