Learn the procedureUsed for verruca vulgaris (hands, feet). Have not tried on genital warts.Pfenninger Protocol:Candida antigen is available as "Candin" (obtained from hospital pharmacy or Allermed Laboratories, Inc., P.O. Box 17540, San Diego, CA. 92177-7540, Ph:619-292-1060). Generic Candida antigen is also available. Mix equal parts of 1 % Xylocaine without epinephrine. Some providers believe that generic candida needs to be diluted 1:4 to decrease reactions. Inject 0.1 cc - 0.3 cc per wart using a 30 g needle and tuberculin 1 cc syringe Try for an intradermal injection to create an immune response. Can also inject some intralesionally. If it goes in easily you're too deep. Create a bleb if possible. Wear protective glasses since the material often "squirts" out through a verruca pore. Limit total amount at any one visit to 1 cc. Repeat injection in one month if residual tissue. Expect: pruritus; drying of lesion and peeling of dead tissue; lesion turning black; spontaneous regression without any outward signs; erythema (localized). Adverse reactions: rash, adenopathy, persistence of lesion. Not FDA approved for treatment of warts. However, is approved and has been used for at least 30 years for anergy testing. Is covered by malpractice since is approved for intradermal injection. Procedure codes:
Plantar wart, before injection
Inject intradermally. If it goes in 0.1-0.3 cc/wart
Raise a bleb. Inject intralesionally by "pricking"
Injection of smaller lesion. Inject as many warts as you can
Injection of periungual wart.
