When I was six
weeks old, my parents moved from Philadelphia to Ohio to
attend college
there. We lived close to a large glen, which was my first
introduction to
nature and wildlife. Hiking in the woods is still one of my
favorite pastimes.
My parents began teaching me at home after first grade,
which was totally
unheard of at the time. During my sixth grade year, we
moved to a horse
and buggy (Old Order) Mennonite community and I had the
fun of attending a
one room school house and trying to learn Pennsylvania
Dutch. Shortly
after that, Lancaster, Pennsylvania became home. I worked
with my dad on
different remodeling and construction jobs, worked on
several farms and
pursued interests in politics, aviation and computers.
I
border.
I pursued my first
year of postgraduate training, a traditional
Osteopathic
rotating internship, at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and
transferred to
Altoona Family Physicians to complete a residency in Family
Medicine. I plan
to pursue interests in rural and international medicine
(medical missions)
upon completion of residency. When I have free time, I
like to hike, play
the harmonica or lap dulcimer and spend time with my five
year old sister
and the rest of the family. Aviation continues to fascinate
me as well,
although I have not yet found time to complete my private
pilot's license.
