Ears, Nose and Throat Medicine

Overview

ENT is a required rotation that may be taken in either the 2nd or 3rd year.  It is offered in conjunction with ophthalmology.  It is primarily an outpatient rotation although inpatient is available. The resident is taught by local, board-certified ENT's how to diagnose and manage common problems of head and neck including otitis and externa/media, perforation of the tympanic membrane, sinusitis etc. The resident also learns when referral to an ENT specialist is appropriate. The rotation is supplemented by assigned readings, noon conferences and CME offerings by Altoona Regional Health System.
