2001 graduate

Biography

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania.  I grew up in Cresson, PA, only 25 minutes from Altoona.  I went to college only 5 minutes from my parents, but lived on campus.   I was a Resident Assistant to help pay my way through college.  I then went to medical school at Penn State University at Hershey, PA.  Yes, it does smell like chocolate in Hershey.  I returned to this area after medical school because I really liked the program and, conveniently, it was close to my family. My husband already had a job in the area so it worked out very well.  

I will be joining Mainline Medical Associates. I am excited to be working with many other AFP graduates, some of which I have known as I was growing up in Cresson, as a patient at Mainline Medical. I am also thrilled to be able to stay in my hometown of Cresson, where I currently live with my husband, Randy, and daughter, Kayla. Randy is The Golf Professional at Summit Country Club. Kayla is the start of our own "family". She was born during my residency on November 10, 2000. (Thanks to Jen Murnyack-Garner for showing me you can be a mom and a resident, and do well at both.)

I would like to thank my parents for always encouraging me to work hard and to strive to do my best. It really does pay off. I would also like to thank Randy for sticking with me through good and bad days of residency. Thank you also Randy for giving me Kayla, I thank God for her every day. But I couldn't have endured (only 5 interns and T.K.) and learned as much without my fellow residents -THANK YOU! To the new 3^rd years, always remember to listen to your interns - you learn as much from them as they learn from you. To the new interns, you know more than you think.
