Community Medicine

One of the fun things we do during Community Medicine is talk to 5th graders about smoking, using the Tar Wars curriculum.

Dr. Victoria Devan delivers the message.

Community Medicine at Altoona Family Physicians

 How about a rotation that:

·        helps you learn the business side of medicine

·       allows you to plan visits to  family practices to see if you wish to join the practice

·       allows you to help at the Partnership for Health Services, a free clinic sponsored by the Altoona Hospital

·       sends you to fifth grade classrooms to present the AAFP Tar Wars smoking prevention program to fifth grade children

·      schedules tried and true family practice office managers to help you learn practice management

·      lets you pick alternative office settings to study practice management

·      gives you time to learn more about community resources that can help your patients

·      In your PGY 1 or intern year arranges visits with  Hospice Program, Blair County Early Intervention services for Children, and the Home Nursing agency
