Clinical sites
A number of practices in the area are kind
enough to take students in their practices for one or several days. This
gives students experience in the breadth and variety of Family Practice
opportunities. Here are directions to get to some of these sites.
Williamsburg Family Physicians

Leave Altoona Family Physicians turning right onto 4th Street. At the signal
light, turn right onto Chestnut Avenue. Get in the left lane and take the sign
that says Business District; this puts you onto the 10th Avenue Expressway. Take
the 17th Street exit and stay on 17th. As soon as you pass Lowes, exit to the
right onto I99 South (formerly Route 220). Get into the right lane. Take the
Frankstown exit. The road will curve around and come to a signal light. Get into
the right lane. (Super 8 Motel should be directly in front of you when sitting
at this intersection.) Turn right at the signal light onto Frankstown Road.
Continue on Frankstown Road (going up and then down Frankstown Mountain) until
it intersects with Route 22. Turn left, going East, on 22. Continue on 22E
passing the entrances to Canoe Creek State Park. Still continue on 22E and right
before the foot of the mountain, veer to the right onto Route 866. There should
be a Williamsburg sign there. You will then follow Route 866 until it enters
Williamsburg. You will come to a stop sign. Turn right at the stop sign onto
High Street. Go one block to the next stop sign and turn right again onto West
Second street. Go one block and turn left onto Plum Street. Go one block and on
the right side you will see the building (peach/pink color). Turn right on
West Third Street. Left on Blue Pirate Street (before school) and left into the parking lot.
Williamsburg Family Practice office to AFP:
Turn right as you exit the parking lot. Then turn right onto West Third street. At the
stop sign turn left pm High Street. Go 2 blocks to First Street. Turn left on to Route 866.
Continue to Route 22. Turn left onto Route 22 West. After you pass through Geeseytown, note the sign that says “Short Route to Route 220”. Turn right onto
this road, which is also called Frankstown Road. You will go up a big hill (a
challenge for little cars), then go down this hill. Observe the signs for Route
220. You want to take 220 N Altoona 17th Street exit. Note this lane becomes
17th St. Do not continue on Rte. 220 to Tyrone! Follow l7th Street all the way
to its end, then turn right onto one way 12th Avenue. This turns in to Chestnut
Avenue. From Chestnut turn left onto 4th street. Turn left again to enter the
Blair Medical Center complex. Building F will be on the left. Go around the
building to the Chestnut Avenue side. Altoona Family Physicians occupies the
ground floor of Building F.
Glendale Medical Center (Drs. Hall and Robinson’s
office)

From the Altoona Family Physicians parking lot, turn right onto 4th Street. At
the signal light, turn right onto Chestnut Avenue. Get into the left lane
following the sign marked “Business District”. At the signal light, bear to the
left. This puts you onto the 10th Avenue Expressway. Next you will exit on to
Route 36 North. Continue on Route 36 North to Ashville. From there, take Route
53 North, which will take you directly into Ashville. Route 53 becomes Main
Street in Coalport. Glendale Medical Center is the yellow brick building on the
right hand side of the street.
