11/06/06 Update:  Welcome back Dr. Morrow!

I have returned!  Thank you all at AFP and WFP for graciously welcoming me back into the AFP family.  I am truly honored and pleased to be back living in central PA and working with all of you.  My brief hiatus west, while a valuable clinical and life experience, only served to reinforce to my wife Jennie and I what a truly beautiful and friendly place Pennsylvania is.  As I probably already knew but had to leave briefly to ultimately discover, the grass is not always greener on the other side and we realized we had happiness and everything we needed and wanted, right here in our own backyard.

Biography

I was born in 1955 in Chicago, Illinois, the first son of my chemical engineer father and registered nurse mother. My parents and I (along with 4 other siblings), moved to the great suburban small town of Thornton, IL in 1957, where we grew up and prospered in seeming bliss until 1969. It was then, at the tender age of 14, that my father was called to go west (go west - young man!?) for a new job and career in the paradise (or so we thought) known as Southern California. Being uprooted and transplanted was not easy but, obviously, I survived. I lived out my high school, college and early work years there and one day was struck with the fact that there had to be more to life than sunshine and warmth and sand and waves.

So I took my own new family of four, abandoned my career as a respiratory therapist, and headed back east to the mecca of Osteopathy, Kirksville, MO. My four-year "Kirksville experience" went quickly by and my life was then thrust into a  new direction -- family medicine. Moving again, I started my family practice residency in Pennsylvania only to discover during those years that I had finally found a "true" paradise that I could never leave, the glorious metropolis of Altoona/Blair County, PA!  And here, then, I remain (again) - teaching family medicine, raising my family with my beautiful wife Jennie and kids, hunting, and just generally living life and loving it here in Altoona, PA.

News item from the past:

Dr. Morrow was called to active duty and served at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany for 3 months during the summer of 2003 at the invitation of the U.S. Army Reserve.  He tells us he worked hard, but it doesn't look like it in the postcards he sent!
