Central Pennsylvania is a beautiful area with many opportunities.  

   Blair County, located in Central Pennsylvania, combines the activities of a small metropolitan area with the scenic beauty of its rural location for its population of 132,000. Altoona is the largest city in the county with a population of 53,000. The county also has many unique towns such as historic Hollidaysburg, founded in the 1700’s and Duncansville, a paradise for antique collectors.

   Artistic and cultural interests can be richly satisfied with the Altoona Symphony, Blair Concert Chorale, Allegheny Ballet Company, Altoona Community Theatre Group, the Cresson Lake Playhouse, the varied programs of the Mishler Theatre and Jaffa Mosque, and the abundant cultural activities of the Pennsylvania State University located in State College.

   Blair County provides excellent school systems for private and public education. Seven public school districts are available.

   Higher education needs and interests can be met at the Altoona campus of Penn State University, St. Francis College, Juniata College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Mount Aloysius College, and the Altoona School of Commerce.

   Blair County offers excellent year round recreation. Hunting, fishing, hiking, tennis, camping, water recreation, golf, as well as downhill and cross country skiing are all available. State parks and lakes are abundant and easily accessible. Nearby Lake Raystown, over thirty miles long, provides boating and bass tournament fishing for the enthusiast. Sports activities abound for both observers and participants. The area has had some of the finest high school teams in the state and nation. College sporting events are also readily available either locally or in State College, home of the Penn State Nittany Lions.

   Whether it is a specialty item or the variety available from mall shopping, Altoona and the surrounding communities in Blair County can meet any shopper’s needs or interests.

   Spiritual enrichment can be provided for all ages. Blair County has 38 denominations and faiths with 134 churches and synagogues.

   Blair County has some of the best housing opportunities in the state. Excellent and affordable options are available for either rental or purchase.
