| Altoona Hospital is a community
hospital that serves as referral center for Blair, Huntington, Bedford,
Clearfield, and Centre counties. The Hospital was founded by the
Pennsylvania Railroad to serve the needs of a burgeoning railroad town at
the beginning of the twentieth century. Today, Altoona is a vibrant City
of 65,000 in Blair County with a total population of 110,000. The hospital
has one of the premiere open heart and cardiac surgery programs in the
state of Pennsylvania. It is staffed 24 hours a day by Board certified
trauma surgeons. 1300 babies are delivered every year in the state
of the art LDRP suites.
